Little Nargis inhabits a different planet from her western and EU counterparts

Baby Nargis Yadav, born on October 31, 2011, in Dauraha village on the outskirts of Lucknow, was officially declared, in India at least, to be the seven billionth citizen of the world. The status accorded to her is of course symbolic. For, coinciding with Nargis’s arrival on earth, many more births were recorded in diverse parts of the globe, including at least three from UP.

The claim made on Baby Nargis’s behalf is also symbolic in a more fundamental way. For the world that Nargis has been born into is in a real sense a very different planet from that in which her counterparts in the more materially advanced countries had their births. Economically and technologically, our supposedly common globe has long been divided into at least three different planets: the developed First World, the developing Second World and the underdeveloped Third World. There may even be Fourth and Fifth Worlds, represented by communities so marginalised by mainstream populations that they barely, if at all, register on the radar of our consciousness.

The differentiation of Earth into separate planets, separate Worlds with separate numbers assigned to them – First, Second, Third etc – is best illustrated by the case of the US, which is the leader and role model of the so-called First World. With a population of some 312 million people, it is the world’s third most populous country, after China and India whose populations are 1.3 billion and 1.2 billion respectively. In terms of population size, China and India are obviously way ahead of the US; in terms of the consumption of resources, however, India and China, and other residents of the Second and Third Worlds, are just as obviously way, way behind.

Americans constitute about 5% of the global population but consume 24% of the world’s energy. One American is said to consume as much energy as six Mexicans, 13 Chinese, 31 Indians, 128 Bangladeshis, 307 Tanzanians and 370 Ethiopians. Americans, and other inhabitants of the First World, don’t just live in a different world; they live as though they were on a different planet from the people of Asia and Africa and other less privileged parts of the globe.

With seven billion people and still growing, the world is getting dangerously overcrowded. It is. But it is not dangerously overcrowded with people; it is dangerously overcrowded with the increasing inequalities in accessing the world’s non-renewable resources. The problem is not population growth; the problem is – and long has been – the plundering of Earth’s resources to benefit the First World at the expense of the other, lesser Worlds which are seen as colonised planets to be exploited for their natural wealth, which includes the wealth of their growing markets with their capacity to absorb goods and services produced by the First World.

The only non-depleting – in fact, ever increasing – resource that Earth has is its population, its people and the human potential they represent. At the time of the Buddha, the global population was under 100 million; when Christ was born it was 170 million; when Newton discovered gravity it was 545 million. Statistically speaking, with its population of seven billion, Earth today has the human potential to produce many Buddhas, many Christs, many Newtons, many Shakespeares. All of whom will remain unknown and unrecognised because they are born as children of the lesser Worlds, lesser in terms of access to nutrition, healthcare, education and the most basic of civic amenities, including drinking water and sanitation.

So what’s the best birthday wish we can give to Baby Nargis and all those like her? That in their lifetimes there is hope at least of someday bridging the unbridgeable distance between their World, their planet, and the planet that calls itself the First World.

We are all changing every day, whether we know it or not. We can dread these changes and deny them, or we can accept these changes and bask in the glory of them. We can accept change and we can be willing to make a change for the beautiful. Instead of dreading change, we can welcome change. We don’t have to fear it. Change is natural, desirable, and is impossible to avoid anyway. So why not make the choice to change? When we make that positive choice, our intention of transformation is exciting. What enlightenment can we experience through our process of metamorphosis, and in transformation, what beautiful beings will we become?

Metamorphosis is a Greek word meaning “transformation or change of shape,” noting different stages of development in the life history of an organism. Consider the amazing change — complete metamorphosis — that the common caterpillar goes through in order to become a magnificent butterfly. A butterfly has humble beginnings, starting out as a tiny, fragile egg. From this tiny speck of a pearl hatches a caterpillar, whose sole purpose in life is to eat. To grow. To change. Increasing in size rapidly, it outgrows and sheds its skin several times. When fully grown, it transforms into a chrysalis, protected by its hard outer shell. It lingers in this stage of development from two weeks to two years, depending on the species of butterfly. Within the mundane-looking chrysalis, miraculous changes are occurring. Special cells that were already present in the caterpillar are now growing quickly. These cells become legs, eyes and wings. Finally, the chrysalis cracks and from it emerges a grand and glorious butterfly.

The caterpillar was patient, knowing it would one day be a butterfly. It did not yearn to be what it was not. It was not jealous of other butterflies. Restrained by its very, very slow movement, it could not travel far. Yet, it was not frustrated or restless. It did not long to fly away. The caterpillar was content in its steady but slow progress, confident that one day it would fulfill its destiny as a butterfly. Its sole purpose was only to nourish itself in order to grow. It did not worry, anxiously fearing it might not bud wings to fly. The caterpillar was naturally becoming what it would be: a beautiful butterfly.

A caterpillar is not envious or resentful of the butterfly, for it knows it will be a butterfly when its time has come. It is persistent in its growth and in its process of change. It does not doubt its future magnificence. The caterpillar does not feel inferior and insecure, anxiously awaiting its new form. The emerging butterfly is not any less beautiful for having spent time as a crawling creature. It does not regret, have remorse, shame or guilt for its time as a caterpillar. The butterfly does not question its ability to fly and its right to be what it has become.

Like the caterpillar, our purpose as humans is to learn, experience, grow and change. Perhaps we were slow learners, and perhaps we may have needed much experience to grow and transform. We may have remained in our caterpillar stage a very, very long time. But miraculous changes did occur! What was already within us allowed us to grow amazing, strong wings. I have confidence that we are all just butterflies in the making, some transforming quickly, some slowly. For today I am a butterfly. Metamorphosis has been completed. Having emerged from my chrysalis, I’m resting on a leaf, basking in the glory of my being and enjoying the warmth of the sun. My wings are still small and wet. I'm getting ready to fly freely. And as I fly, I’ll carry the message with me that unbeknownst to you, you are becoming a beautiful butterfly, too.

And when we become butterflies, we will fly with the gift of an enlightened point of view, and a higher perspective than we had when we were just humble caterpillars. For each day we are becoming more of who we are. We did not choose to be who we are; we are being who we were chosen to be. And today we are choosing to be the beautiful butterflies that we are becoming.

Health Benefits of Green Tea

For centuries, doctors, healers and tea drinkers have known that green tea possesses remarkable healing properties. Today, after decades of research, it’s become apparent that green tea truly is a "steaming cup of medicine." The results of hundreds of studies performed by top scientists at leading universities and research centers demonstrate that green tea, even in moderate amounts, may help ward off or combat a variety of ailments by:

Boosting the immune system
Regulating cholesterol levels
Fighting the build-up of sticky plaque in the arteries
Interfering with the cancer process
Assisting in weight loss
Fighting harmful bacteria and viruses
Protecting the body against free radical damage

What is Green Tea?

Tea is a hot water infusion made from the leaves of the camellia sinensis bush. The way the leaves are processed determines whether the result is green, black or oolong tea. For green tea, the leaves are steamed or pan-fired immediately after picking to prevent them from fermenting. For black tea, the leaves are crushed and left to wither to encourage fermentation. For oolong, the leaves are withered for a shorter time, so they become only partially fermented.

Unfermented tea leaves contain large amounts of catechins, which are the powerful antioxidants and disease fighters responsible for green tea’s many health benefits. And while you can find some catechins in black and oolong tea, they’re found in much larger quantities in green tea. It’s the quick processing of green tea that keeps the catechins in place. When tea leaves are allowed to ferment, the catechins convert to another form that doesn’t have nearly as many health benefits. There are five types of catechins, but the most potent is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCg, for short).

Most studies have concluded that you need 3-10 cups of green tea per day, or up to 1,000 mg. of catechins for maximum health benefits. (The average 6-ounce cup of green tea contains between 50 and 100 mg catechins.)

What Can Green Tea Do For Your Health?A wealth of laboratory, animal and human studies has provided evidence that green tea can help promote heart health, ward off cancer, fight obesity, lessen free radical damage to the cells, and even slow the progression of age-related cognitive impairment and Alzheimer’s disease. Samples of some interesting findings:

Green Tea and Cholesterol

Many researchers believe that green tea helps reduce cholesterol by lowering its absorption in the digestive tract and increasing its excretion.

Italian researchers studying two groups of volunteers following a controlled diet found that those who drank two cups of green tea (about 250 mg of catechins) per day for 6 weeks reduced their LDL "bad" cholesterol by an average of 13 mg/dl.¹
A double blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study involving 240 people with mildly to moderately-elevated cholesterol found that taking 375 mg of theaflavin-enriched green tea extract daily for 12 weeks caused a reduction in total cholesterol of 11.3% and in LDL cholesterol of 16.4%, while the HDL "good" cholesterol increased by 2.3%.²
Animal studies have shown that even when consuming a diet rich in lard and cholesterol, rats who receive green tea catechins have much lower cholesterol levels than those who don't receive the catechins.³

Green Tea and Cardiovascular Disease

Green tea is associated with a reduction in many risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Besides improving cholesterol values, it may also help lower blood pressure, decrease blood stickiness, and prevent of LDL oxidation (a crucial beginning step in the atherosclerotic process). And while no one has actually proven that green tea can prevent heart disease, some recent findings are exciting:

A study of nearly 400 people scheduled for coronary angiography found that those who drank at least 1 cup of green tea per day were 42% less likely to have a heart attack than those who didn’t drink green tea.⁴
Green tea may also reduce a person’s risk of dying of a heart attack. Researchers interviewed 1900 people four days after having a heart attack. Four years later, those who consumed tea in moderate amounts (about 2 cups per day) decreased their risk of dying by 31%, while those who drank more than 2 cups per day decreased their risk by 39%.⁵
Green tea seems to be particularly protective against stroke-induced deaths. In a 2006 study, researchers who had been tracking 40,530 Japanese age 40 or older over an 11-year period reported that women who drank five or more cups of green tea daily were 42% less likely to die of a stroke than those who drank less than one cup.⁶

Green Tea and Obesity

Green tea has recently become the latest weapon in the war on weight. But does it really work? The results of some new studies are promising, finding that green tea can increase the rate of calorie burning, reduce body fat levels and even prevent excess weight gain. Although most tests have been performed on laboratory animals, at least one with humans showed that taking in the equivalent of 3 cups of green tea per day burned an additional 80 calories per day.

In a study of energy expenditure in men, those who took green tea extract containing EGCg plus caffeine three times daily burned about 80 more calories per day than those who didn't take the extract. (Taking caffeine with EGCg didn't have the same effect.) They took in roughly the amount of EGCg found in 3 cups of green tea a day.⁷
In another study, green tea extract actually helped prevent obesity. Two groups of mice were placed on a high-fat diet that ensured weight gain, and one group also received green tea extract, while the other did not. The mice that got the green tea extract gained 47% less weight than those who didn't get the extract.⁸
Finally, green tea extract helped to reverse established obesity. Rats that had become obese through deliberate overfeeding had their obesity reversed by supplementation with EGCg, which markedly decreased the amount of adipose tissue.⁹

Green tea is believed to help prevent obesity by revving up the fat-burning effects of brown fat, sending glucose to muscle tissue where it’s more likely to be burned, rather than to fat tissue, and inhibiting the action of fat-digesting enzymes so the fat that you eat is less available to the body.

Green Tea and Cancer

Animal studies have clearly shown that green tea can help prevent the growth of tumors in the breast, prostate, lung and skin. And many studies of large populations have linked green tea to a reduction of cancer of the stomach, lung, pancreatic, breast, colon, esophageal, prostate and skin.

Green tea’s catechins (particularly EGCg) appear to inhibit the cancer process at all stages. Specifically, they protect the body from free radical damage by acting as an antioxidant, lower the toxicity of certain carcinogens, interfere with the binding of carcinogens to the DNA of healthy cells, inhibit cancer activation, slow tumor growth and spread, inhibit the growth of blood vessels to feed the tumor, and encourage cancer cells to “commit suicide” (programmed cell death). Some of the more interesting studies of green tea’s effects on cancer include:

Stomach CancerResearchers from Shanghai, China compared 206 people newly diagnosed with stomach cancer to 415 healthy control subjects. After studying the volunteers’ health, diet and lifestyle habits, the researchers concluded that drinking green tea reduced the risk of developing stomach cancer by as much as 41%.¹⁰

Lung CancerThe diet and lifestyle habits of 649 nine women with lung cancer were compared to those of 675 healthy women. The researchers found that drinking green tea reduced the risk of developing green tea by as much as 35% (in the nonsmokers only), and that the more green tea consumed, the greater the protection.¹¹

Breast CancerA study of 1,100 Asian-American women, half of whom had breast cancer, showed that those in the non-cancer group were much more likely to be green tea drinkers. The researchers concluded that "green tea drinkers showed a significantly reduced risk of breast cancer..." and the more green tea consumed, the greater the protection.¹²

The combined results four studies (a meta-analysis) showed a 12% reduction in risk of developing breast cancer for those drinking the most green tea compared to those drinking the least.¹³

Pancreatic CancerA case-control study of cancer of the pancreas involving over 200 people found a significantly decreased risk of developing the disease in those who consumed green tea.¹⁴

Another study found that those who drank 2 or more cups of green tea per day had a 60% lower risk of developing pancreatic cancer.¹⁵ In test-tube studies, green tea has been shown to fight pancreatic cancer by damaging the mitochondria of the cancer cells and inhibiting cancer activation.¹⁶

Prostate CancerA double-blind, placebo-controlled study of green tea’s ability to fight prostate cancer was published in Cancer Research in 2006. Sixty men with HG-PIN, a condition that can quickly progress to prostate cancer, were divided into two groups. One group received 600 mg of green tea catechins per day; the other did not. After one year, only one prostate tumor was found among the green tea group compared to 9 in the control group.¹⁷

Skin CancerMuch of the research of green tea’s effects on skin cancer has been done on hairless mice since their skin is very similar to human skin. And it’s been found that green tea extract, whether taken internally or painted on the skin, does help prevent skin cancer at both the induction and promotion phases. Mice given green tea extract in their drinking water for 50 days, then injected with a powerful skin cancer-inducing substance, got 44% fewer skin tumors than rats that hadn’t been given the extract.¹⁸ In another study, mice exposed to UVB rays who received green tea catechins through their water supply developed 41% fewer skin tumors than mice treated in the same manner, who didn’t get green tea. The tumors that they did develop were smaller.¹⁹ And recent test-tube studies have found that EGCg inhibits the growth and spread of the deadly skin cancer melanoma.²⁰

Green Tea, the Health Elixir

Perhaps the Japanese Buddhist monk Eisai was right when he wrote circa 1211 that “Tea is a miraculous medicine for the maintenance of health.” Countless studies have shown that not only can green tea aid in heart health, interfere with the cancer process and help ward off obesity, it can also fight deadly bacteria, including the kind that cause tuberculosis²¹, guard against dental cavities^22,23, inhibit the action of viruses²⁴, fight free radical damage to the cells²⁵ and preserve the freshness of foods^26,27 and cosmetics.

How Much Do You Need?

Most experts agree that a daily intake of 3-10 cups of green tea (the equivalent of 300-1,000 mg of catechins) is ideal for maximum health benefits. In extract form, to get 300 mg of catechins you’d need to take about 480 mg of a 50:1 extract containing 60% catechins (60% of 480 mg = 300 mg).

But even a single cup of green tea per day can be beneficial (just this small amount confers powerful protection against dental cavities and breast cancer). So pour yourself a steaming cup of medicine and enjoy! It could be the beginning of a life-long love affair with a potent and delightful health-enhancer.

I can't say I like Budhism or other religion . I like a little
from everyone but I don't take any religion as a way
of life.

I don't depend on any religion and I never speak with
Romanians about religion. We don't speak about our
belief, we live a free life, as we wish.

That's why we don't ask the other about his belief. It is
his/her business what is his/her belief.

This is me. I don't understand why other people made
a rule of their life to follow a religion .

In my opinion, it is very good to have faith in something
because this sentiment gives the people POWER to live.

They can believe in anything to help their souls and mind
to be health. They can believe in a flower, or in music, or
in a pencil...

Most of the people believe in God. If they think that God
helps them to be healthy, it's very good for them.

What is very bad is to oblige the other to believe like you,
in what you believe.

People must be free to think and behave in society not to
be oppressed by strange ideas.

The laws must be respected. They are made by elected
people !

Each effect has a cause and usually the cause of any
disease is suffering to much in life.

If we know the cause, we can heal the effect.

The real thing is not a relationship but a state; ONE IS NOT IN LOVE BUT ONE IS LOVE. Whenever I talk about love remember this: I AM TALKING ABOUT THE STATE OF LOVE. Yes, relationship is perfectly good, but the relationship is going to be false if you have not attained to the state of love. Then the relationship is not only a pretension, it is a dangerous pretension -- because it can go on befooling you; it can go on giving you the sense that you know what love is. And you don't know. LOVE BASICALLY IS A STATE OF BEING; one is not in love, one IS love.

And that love arises not by falling in love with somebody. THAT LOVE ARISES BY GOING IN -- NOT BY FALLING BUT BY RISING, soaring upwards, higher than you. It is a kind of surpassing.

A MAN IS LOVE WHEN HIS BEING IS SILENT; it is the song of silence. A Buddha is love, a Jesus is love -- not in love with a particular person, but simply love. Their very climate is love. It is not addressed to anybody in particular, it is spreading into all directions. Whosoever comes close to a Buddha will feel it, will be showered by it, will be bathed in it. And it is unconditionally so.

LOVE MAKES NO CONDITIONS, no ifs, no buts. Love never says, "Fulfill these requirements, then I will love you." Love is like breathing: when it happens, you are simply love. It does not matter who comes close to you, the sinner or the saint. Whosoever comes close to you starts feeling the vibe of love, is rejoiced. Love is unconditional giving -- but only those are capable of giving who HAVE.

ONE OF THE MOST MYSTERIOUS THINGS ABOUT MAN is that he goes on giving things which he doesn't have. You go on giving love and you don't have it in the first place, and you go on asking love from others who don't have it in the first place. Beggars begging from beggars!

LOVE FIRST HAS TO HAPPEN IN THE DEEPEST CORE OF YOUR BEING. It is the quality of being alone, happily alone, joyously alone. It is the quality of being a no-mind, of being silent. Contentless consciousness is the space, the context in which love arises in you.

And when it arises in you it is so much, it is unbearable. Its pleasure is so unbearable that it becomes almost pain. It is heavy like the clouds which are full of rain; they HAVE to shower, they HAVE to rain, they HAVE to unburden themselves. WHEN LOVE ARISES IN THE SILENT HEART, IT HAS TO BE SHARED, it has to be given; you are helpless.

And the person you give your love to is not obliged to you in any way. In fact, you are obliged to the person because he helped you unburden, he shared something that was too much in you. And the economics of love is: THE MORE YOU GIVE, THE MORE YOU HAVE -- because in your silent being you are joined with the oceanic, the divine source of all. And you can go on sharing... more and more goes on flowing in you, it goes on welling up.

The areas of developmental brain damage which have seen the most advance include: the search for causes of development brain damage and their prevention; protecting the threatened brain of a newborn; and improving interventions minimizing impairment and the disability consequences.

Stem Cell Research and the Cure for Cerebral Palsy

Whether stem cell research will lead to the cure for Cerebral Palsy is still to be seen. We do know that animal research has recently found banks of unspecialized, embryonic-like, neural stem cells in the olfactory areas. In animals sense of smell is very acute and an important organ for finding food needed for survival. As "smell neurons" are lost, these unassigned stem cells replace them. Similar banks of stem cells have recently been found in the sensory nervous system of humans. As infections or trauma destroys sensory cells in the human smell system, they are regularly replaced by stem cells as well. Additionally, these same kinds of stem cells have recently been found deep in the human brain. It has been postulated that these cells could be used to replace neurons injured by brain damage. If we can find the stimulus which makes an unassigned stem like cell change to replace a damaged neuron we will be able to actually repair brain damage by replacing the damaged cells. This could lead to the elusive "cure for cerebral palsy".

Obviously this research has incredible implications for the future cure for cerebral palsy. There are many questions still needing answers but just finding these cells exist offers a ray of hope that damaged brain cells could be replaced and restored, thereby curing the disorder. Trials with animals have shown success in creating a "brain graft" with embryonic stem cells. However, there are no trials involving humans at this time.

What stem cell research indicates is that there is a real possibility for restoring function to the areas of damaged brain which resulted in cerebral palsy. We are at last beginning to walk a path which might lead to a true cure for cerebral palsy.

A Cure for Cerebral Palsy

Though researchers diligently search for a cure for cerebral palsy, none will be available until we learn how to repair damage to the brain. Cerebral palsy is a term covering many different disorders of motor control caused by brain damage. Preventing brain damage is the number one way to stop cerebral palsy. The brain damage causing cerebral palsy usually occurs early in fetus development but can occur from non-congenital reasons after birth as well.

Since there is currently no cure for cerebral palsy, most heath care professionals work to help people with CP to gain as much independence as possible. Physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy are utilized to maximize the potential for independence. Other treatments like medication and surgery are used to reduce spasticity, seizures and other physical symptoms of cerebral palsy.

While therapies and advances in medicine can go a long way to ease the disabilities caused by CP, it also important to try and understand what caused the condition in the first place. What many parents do not understand is that CP is sometimes caused by medical mistakes, negligence and malpractice. This is a case of a Girl age 17 years, Who had a history of erratic temperament since child hood, due to this the life of the whole family was disturbed, Since childhood she was infamous for Mood swings and anger, She laughs without any cause and loudly, She had nightmare dreams since childhood, and she use to fear dark a lot. She was loquacious keeps on talking. Due to this The Family had even taken her to Tantriks and for prayers so that if some evil spirit is there it may leave her. She had a history of convulsion. After taking Allopathic treatment from last 10 years from renowned institution of north India, they thought of homoeopathy.

Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) is a form of inflammation of the

vertebrae and sacro-iliac joints. The sacroiliac joints are

located in the low back where the sacrum (the bone directly

above the tailbone) meets the iliac bones (bones on either

side of the hips). What is a vertebra?

It is a hollow bone which forms a spine for giving a protection

to spinal cord.it also holds the head in right position and

maintains the body posture. In between two vertebrae there

is intervertebral disk which acts as a shock absorber.

It is one of the types of chronic arthritis. ”Ankylosing” means

joining together or fusing together.

Spondylitis means inflammation of vertebral bones of the spine.

The joints are originally inflamed and this may be tailed by

progressive stiffness and inflexibility. It ultimately leads to

the fusion of the spine, giving everlasting painful stiffness of

the back. It is frequently called bamboo spine, as the spine

tends get stiff like a bamboo. AS primarily it affects the spine

but it can also be seen in other part of body.

Dear Charanjeet Singh Lamba,

My writing about Albert Einstein is also his quotation but I used
my words because I don't remember exactly his words about his
habit of asking his grand mother about his discoveries...

So, you can read two precious quotations said by Einstein. I like
his quotations and wisdom very much. He also said, if you don't
know, other very shining words : " If God didn't allow me to use
His Mind, I wouldn't have discovered anything".

He was very much connected with divinity and universe. I read
his life written by more writers and men of science.

All the people agree with the idea that Albert Einstein is the
greatest man of science in the world. Of course, there are some
human beings who think that they are smarter than Albert Einstein
but they will not remain in the History of Mankind !!

Voi continua serialul care cuprinde patru episoade in care voi prezenta, pe baza unor inregistrari efectuate in cadrul unei emisiuni TV “Starea de Veghe – In spatele usilor inchise”, realizata de catre ziaristul Sorin Rosca Stanescu, Bravurile Comandantului de nava Traian Basescu in anii 80.Emisiunea a fost difuzata in direct de catre postul de televiziune Prima TV la data de 23/24 iunie 1998 incepand cu ora 23.30. Traian Basescu a fost singurul invitat al acelei emisiuni. Subiectul de baza al dezbaterii a fost “Colaborarea lui Traian Basescu cu Organele fostei Securitati din Romania”. Am mai facut referire la aceste inregistrari acum circa 6 luni, articolul respectiv Traian Basescu recunoaste o falsificare de probefiind vizionat de: number of view: 14281, pana in prezent.

Acesta este presedintele Romaniei, cel care conduce destinele acestei tari de aproape 6 ani.

Este cel care a executat activitati de contrabanda in zone supuse embargoului.
